Kotora ("we," "our," or "the app") is a Portuguese language learning application for iOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Speech Audio
When you use the speech recognition feature, your voice recordings are sent to Microsoft Azure Speech Services for processing. Audio is processed in real time and is not stored by Kotora or Microsoft after processing is complete.
Learning Progress
Your exercise scores, resume points, notes, and learning progress are stored locally on your device and optionally synced via Apple iCloud. This data is tied to your Apple ID and is not accessible to us.
Subscription Information
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or billing details.
Microsoft Azure Speech Services
We use Azure Speech Services for text-to-speech (audio pronunciation) and speech-to-text (speech recognition). Audio data is sent to Microsoft's servers for processing. Microsoft's privacy policy applies to this processing: Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Apple iCloud
If you have iCloud enabled, your learning data is synced across your devices via Apple's iCloud service. Apple's privacy policy governs this data: Apple Privacy Policy.
All learning data is stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage mechanisms. iCloud-synced data is encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest. We do not operate our own servers for user data storage.
Kotora is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Since we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is no personal data for us to delete or provide. Your learning data can be deleted by removing the app from your device and, if applicable, deleting Kotora data from your iCloud storage via iOS Settings.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
